COVID-19 Pandemic Impact to MPSI
What is COVID-19? Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered CORONAVIRUS as per the World Health Organization.
People infected by COVID-19 may experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. As per study, people of older age, and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness.
COVID-19 Educational Information Awareness Campaign is the best way to slow down transmission. This is why Medical and Pharmaceutical Specialties, Inc. (MPSI) is promoting Employee Awareness on COVID-19 regularly. This includes “Workplace Guidelines for the MPSI Employees” that informs about the COVID-19 virus, the disease it causes, how it spreads and how to protect oneself and others from infection. All Employees are reminded to observe safety protocol such as wearing of facemask, face shield, proper hand washing, sanitizing, observance of social distancing, at least 1 meter away from one another.
It is important to know that COVID-19 virus spreads through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes, so the need to practice respiratory etiquette is a must for all MPSI employees.
On March 17, 2021 Malacañan placed the entire NCR under Enhanced Community Quarantine which lasted until April 30, 2021. During this time, MPSI Management permitted work from home for all Sales Employees. Office Employees continued reporting for work under a shortened-time period, from 9:00am to 3:00pm. The Company’s Sales slowed down and dropped to the average of fifty percent (50%) due to lack of prescription brought by the standardized protocol of Hospitals disallowing Medical Representatives entry caused by COVID-19 scare.
In continuation, all regularly celebrated activities Annual Summer Outing, Annual Mid-year Conference, Company Anniversary and Christmas Party were cancelled in compliance with the “No Gathering Policy” of the Government. Monthly Meetings and Mid-month Meetings were conducted via ZOOM or virtual conference.
It was only on June 1, 2020, when the Management permitted field coverage in the area to visit small Clinics and other Hospitals that already allows visitation. The Sales Team led by Mr. Orlando G. Tongol was able to hit atleast sixty percent (60%) of their quota. Surprisingly the Sales Team managed to maintain and drive their sales towards upward movement until the end of the year 2020.
On January 1, 2021, Management challenged the entire Sales Department to hit atleast Eighty Percent (80%) of their quota. This Challenge was accepted by the Sales Department and they committed to hit the required given quota for the Company to continue its existence and provide for all employees. On July 5, 2021, the Company announced that the Sales Department only hit Seventy Percent (70%) of their quota. Although they failed to target the Eighty Percent (80%) Commitment, their performance was still met by Company’s recognition on their effort to hurdle the First Semester.
Currently the Company is filled with hope that their business operations will not just soar high on or before the year ends but will stabilize soon. All MPSI employees are encouraged to get a COVID-19 Vaccine as soon as possible for their love one’s protection as well as their own.
